Fresh Grade
Fresh Grade is an online, app-based system of creating an electronic portfolio for students. Using photos, text, audio, and video, teachers are able to make the students' learning visible to parents and can communicate more effectively about how and what the students are learning. Invitations will be sent through email allowing you to set up an account so you can access your child's learning portfolio.
Agendas
Please check the agenda regularly for newsletters, field trip forms, and other notices. Help your child remember to return it to school every day. Agendas also can be used for written communication.
Gym
Our class has Gym on Wednesday and Friday. As well, we will occasionally go outside to enjoy a few minutes of fresh air. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for both active play inside the gym and outside on the playground.
Indoor Shoes
Please ensure that your child has a pair of indoor shoes to be kept at school. He/she should be able to put them on independently. Velcro closures are often a good idea if your child has difficulty with laces.
Library Book Exchange
Our Library Book Exchange is TBA. Each child will be allowed to bring home two books. You and your child are responsible for the safe return of these books each week. Please ensure that both library books are brought back on or before Monday so that your child can exchange them for new ones.
Snacks
Each morning, we have a daily fitness and snack break. Please send a healthy snack for your child such as fruit, vegetables, yogurt, crackers and cheese, rice cakes, etc. "Junk" food and sugary snacks / drinks are not recommended. Please be aware that there are students in our class with NUT allergies.
Water Bottles
Because NGE continues to be on a "step-down" water advisory, the School District provides us with bottled water in our classroom. Please send a labelled water bottle to school each day.
Tissues
With cold and flu season approaching, there will be more sniffles in our classroom. If possible, please send a box of Kleenex to school with your child for our class to use.
Birthdays
Birthdays are special occasions for children! If your child wishes, he/she may bring a nut-free treat for the class on his/her birthday. Invitations may be distributed at school. However, to avoid hurt feelings, please have myself distribute them in the agendas.
Celebrations
Throughout the year, our class will celebrate Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. In order to keep the amount of treats to a minimum, a schedule will be made online and parents will be able to sign up.
Scholastic Orders
Scholastic book orders will be sent home at the beginning of each month. Orders will be placed near mid-month. Please send a cheque with your order or pay for your order online. If making an online payment, please include the payment reference number on your order form. Cash money will not be accepted.
Toys / Card Collections
Please have your child leave his/her toys and card collections at home to allow him/her to focus on active play during our outdoor breaks. Special items brought from home can often be the cause of distress, distraction, and disputes. There will be special events throughout the year (Star of the Week, Reward Coupons) when children will be allowed to bring something from home.
